21C Media Group Names Philip Wilder Vice President

21C Media Group, Inc. announced today that Philip Wilder has been named Vice President. For the past four years, Mr. Wilder has held the position of Director of Artist Development with 21C Media Group, working closely with a roster of artists and arts organizations, including Grammy® Award-winners mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and pianist Yefim Bronfman, and acting as general manager for the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky. In his new capacity as Vice President, Mr. Wilder will collaborate with founding partners Albert Imperato, Jessica Lustig, and Glenn Petry to expand the company’s business in the areas of public relations, marketing, and consulting, while continuing his work with a select roster of artists and arts institutions.

Albert Imperato, who is also Managing Director of 21C Media Group, commented: “Philip’s extraordinary range of knowledge of all aspects of the music business has made him an invaluable member of our team. His creativity, positive energy, and expertise are well-known and admired throughout our industry and he has quickly developed a superb roster of clients that have been a source of great pride to our company. His experience as a performing artist brings a unique point of view to our company that has proven to be a remarkable asset.”

Before joining 21C Media Group in 2005, Philip Wilder enjoyed a distinguished career as a performer, and in arts administration and education. Mr. Wilder was the Associate Director of the Capital Campaign for the Harman Center for the Arts in Washington, DC, and was awarded a fellowship at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Institute for Arts Management. During his time at the Kennedy Center, Mr. Wilder managed the first American tour of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser on an instructional manual for strategic planning designed for executive and artistic directors of emerging arts organizations.
As a performer, Mr. Wilder had a 13-year association with the San Francisco-based vocal ensemble Chanticleer, where he was Assistant Music Director and Director of Education. In collaboration with Chanticleer’s Music Director, Joseph Jennings, Mr. Wilder developed concepts for the ensemble’s touring programs and for many of its 14 recordings for the Warner Classics label, garnering four Grammy® nominations and two Grammy® Awards. He has performed in more than 1,000 concerts worldwide, and fostered collaborations with many composers and performers, including composers Steven Stucky and Sir John Tavener, and vocalists Frederica von Stade and Dawn Upshaw. As Chanticleer’s Director of Education, Mr. Wilder developed and implemented programs for music students in San Francisco and across America, including the ensemble’s Singing in the Schools program and the Chanticleer Youth Choral Festival, an annual event for Bay Area high school students. He is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Eastman School of Music, and the Kennedy Center Institute for Arts Management.
