“Caramoor Livestream” Continues Throughout April with Free, Live-Streamed Music Room Performances by Vijay Iyer, Aaron Diehl Trio and Conrad Tao

In an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus, Caramoor will remain closed for public performances throughout April. However, from the comfort of their own homes, patrons can now enjoy free performances in the Music Room by Vijay Iyer, Aaron Diehl and Conrad Tao, thanks to the new “Caramoor Livestream” series. As a bonus, music-lovers can also catch the Thalea String Quartet’s sold-out fall concert in a special, free broadcast this Sunday. The broadcast and all three live streams will be hosted, free of charge, at Caramoor’s YouTube channel.

Caramoor’s Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey P. Haydon, and Vice President, Artistic Programming & Executive Producer, Kathy Schuman, say:

“All of us at Caramoor join our colleagues around the world in mourning the devastation the coronavirus is causing throughout the artistic community. Since we cannot gather together physically at Caramoor, we would like to invite you to join us virtually. We hope these Livestream concerts from the Music Room can provide some solace and comfort amidst the challenges and changes each of us are navigating daily.”

Special video broadcast:

Thalea String Quartet

Streamed on Sun, March 22 at 3pm

Caramoor offers the chance to catch the Thalea String Quartet’s sold-out November 17 performance of Beethoven, Copland and Florence Price in the Music Room. Highlighting the program was a new sextet arrangement of Price’s recently rediscovered Piano Concerto in D, for which the quartet was joined by pianist Michelle Cann and double bassist Desmond Bratton. Currently serving as Caramoor’s 2019–20 Ernst Stiefel String Quartet-in-Residence, the Thalea’s members have been called “great ambassadors for music” (David Harrington, Kronos Quartet).
