“Opera News” names new publisher: Diane Silberstein

New York, Friday, May 9, 2014 … The Metropolitan Opera Guild today announced the appointment of Diane Silberstein as publisher of Opera News. Silberstein will be responsible for Opera News in its print and digital formats, overseeing the editorial, advertising, production, content distribution and circulation of the magazine.  

Richard J. Miller, Jr., President of the Metropolitan Opera Guild, said, “Diane Silberstein’s in-depth understanding of the media and publishing worlds is an invaluable asset for Opera News and for the Metropolitan Opera Guild.  Her innovative leadership will guide Opera News into an exciting new era in its long and distinguished life.”

Silberstein adds, “Opera News is an outstanding brand, reporting globally on a performing art sector that connects deeply with its audience of passionate and extremely affluent devotees, providing a most desirable audience for luxury products and distinctive properties.  We will be celebrating 80 years of delivering premium content to our fans in 2016, and will begin preparing for the celebration now by bringing new programs and ideas to marketers that are certainly worthy of a standing ovation.”

Diane Silberstein has headed some of the most prestigious and profitable media brands in the United States.  Before joining Opera News, Diane launched Silberstein Media, representing media brands for advertising and sponsorship sales, including Bergdorf Goodman Magazines, AFAR Media, and Table&Travel Magazine, published exclusively for Chase Sapphire cardholders.
 
Before starting her own company, Silberstein was VP Strategy and Business Development for Sage Collective, an Omnicom Agency, specializing in experiential marketing.  Before Sage, Silberstein worked for private equity group Marc Bell Capital Partners as President and Publisher of their magazine group, and previously was Publisher of Playboy magazine, where she oversaw all advertising sales, marketing and business management of Playboy and playboy.com. Previously, Silberstein served as publisher of Yahoo! Internet Life magazine, The New Yorker, and Elle magazine.
 
Silberstein was Senior Vice President/Group Publisher at Phase2Media, an internet advertising sales and marketing company.  She also worked at Vogue, was part of the launch team of Allure magazine, and began her career at Glamour magazine.
