WQXR: new dial position at 8pm this evening

Tune in tonight to 105.9 FM to hear the inaugural broadcast of WQXR in its new position on the dial.  At exactly 8pm this evening, WQXR will broadcast a live concert from Carnegie Hall.  The program will feature the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with violinist Henning Kraggerud and will be hosted by Midge Woolsey and David Garland.  Midge Woolsey will be the afternoon host on the station, continuing in her former role, and David Garland, former host of evening music, will join her in his new role on WQXR as one of the evening hosts.  The broadcast will also be available via live stream at www.wqxr.org.

The program this evening includes Stravinsky’s Concerto in E-flat (Dumbarton Oaks); Webern’s arrangement of Bach’s Musical Offering: Ricercar; the world premiere of Aaron Jay Kernis’s Concerto with Echoes; and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, performed by Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud.
