Louise Barder
Senior Consultant
Louise joined 21C soon after its founding in 2000. Now based back in the UK, Louise is renewing her longstanding relationships with cultural journalists in Britain and Europe. With more than 35 years’ experience in the music industry, she is adept at meeting journalists’ needs by identifying and telling the right stories.
Louise started her career at Novello, helping its composers prepare their new scores. Mentored by Stanley Sadie, she worked as an editor on many publications, including Musical Times, the BBC’s Radio Times, and two Grove dictionaries, as well as the music and youth reference books at Oxford University Press in both Oxford and NYC. In 1993, Louise co-founded Romophone, the Gramophone Award-winning vocal reissues label. Before 21C, she worked in Universal Classics’ press department. Glossophilia, her popular language blog, has a strong social media following.
